My computer is constantly switched on, and today I was checking if I had any files which I could delete. I was doing so becuase my computer is running a bit low on disk space. I had the view hide protected and system files option off in the windows explorer options and I noticed a file named Hiberfil.sys which is the file used by Windows to support hibernation.
I decided to remove this huge file since I never use hibernation, and all that is needed is to run the following command from an elevated command prompt :
powercfg.exe /hibernate off
The Hiberfil.sys was gone and I had a couple more gigs of disk space.

If you need to download a video from Youtube for offline viewing (I frequently do this to follow tutorials), I find that this site http://keepvid.com/ to be very good at what it does – just paste the video url and http://keepvid.com/ will start donwloading he video for you.
For extracting the audio from Youtube videos I use http://www.video2mp3.net. As well you just need to paste the url of the video and http://www.video2mp3.net will pass it to a converiosn server. After some processing time (and some ads) you will be presented with a download link to an mp3 file of the video you requested.
There are other sites that offer the same functionality but these two I find that work realiably.
On a number of times I had to restart the Backup Exec services. (umm does your’s services hang every once in a while?)
Here is a quick way to stop or start the services if they not responding via the command line.
Change to folder where Backup Exec is installed.
To stop all services for Backup Exec, type bemcmd -o503
To start all services for Backup Exec, type bemcmd -o502
In both cases a value of 1 denotes success, or a value of 0 denotes a problem
A value of -1 denotes an error when running the command.
Good luck, I hope you don’ t need to run these commands that often!

Recently I was involved in a an upgrade project to upgrade a 4 cluster running Windows Hyper V 2008 R2. This involved some preparation since I wanted to pre empt any potential problems by reading as much as possible about upgrading to Service Pack 1
One thing that I had not thought of was the lack of space on the Hyper-visor partition- which incidentally was lacking space since it has a 16 GB pagefile.sys. The only way I successfully managed to reduce the pagefile was to make a registry hack to specifiy the intial and max size of the file.
Please use this command to change the size of the pagefile
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Contro l\Session Manager\Memory Management\PagingFiles”=”<location> <initial size> <max size>, and I beg you to not to use the wmic method which did not work for me and is unclear.
Another unexpected issue was that after all the upgrades were done, one of the cluster members was not authenticating to the cluster. So I had to evict the node from the cluster and then re add it to the cluster, and this solved the problem.
Cluster validation and integration components upgrades went fine.
Here are some links which I really found clear and useful.

I have been trying to delete my ebuddy account lately since I do not need this account any more. I remoived all my linked accounts from within ebuddy – but there NO option to delete the ebuddy account itself. This is really bad and I do not recomend using ebuddy. If any one has any suggestions please let me know.
